4 Wineries Around Bowling Green, KY | Crye-Leike Executive Realty

Kentucky may make you think of bourbon, but that's not the only alcoholic beverage the state is known for. The Bowling Green area is home to several outstanding wineries that make the perfect destination to relax in a beautiful setting and enjoy some award-winning varieties of wine. Our real estate agents suggest sipping your way through autumn by paying a visit to these four wineries around Bowling Green.

  • Traveler's Cellar Winery - 3220 Fuqua Road, Rockfield, KY 42274
Get away from it all at Traveler's Cellar Winery, a quaint and cozy small farm boutique winery near Warren County homes for sale. They produce fine wines unique to this area of the state, and you can sip your favorites outside at a picnic table in the rural setting or in the tasting room decorated with items from the owner's travels. Wines by the glass and bottles are all reasonably priced, and individual tastings are just a dollar. To sample several types, try the flight of five tastings for $5. Popular choices include a raisin/lemon Sweet Tea Wine as well as a Big Red Blend of cabernet and merlot that's aged in bourbon barrels.

  • Bluegrass Vineyard - 5016 Smiths Grove Scottsville Road, Smiths Grove, KY 42171
You'll find an extensive variety of wines to try at Bluegrass Vineyard, which specializes in making small-batch, hand-crafted wines. Many are sweet and fruity or otherwise fun, with options including Cotton Candy, a dessert wine made with cotton candy grapes and sweetened with cotton candy sugar. Other interesting choices include dandelion, rhubarb, and jalapeno. Wine is available by the glass, bottle, or in a flight of six samples and a small snack or with "snackleboxes" with cheese, crackers, deli meats, and more. In addition to the wines, you'll also enjoy the winery's beautiful setting since it's located on top of Mammoth Cave with views of rolling hills.

  • Reid's Livery Winery - 430 Nealy Road, Alvaton, KY 42122
Since its founding in 2009, Reid's Livery Winery has earned over 250 awards for its berry and grape wines. Its wines are made with 80% or more local fruits, with many grown right there on the farm, unless it's a special selection that comes from out of state. Try the winery's best-selling dry red, Norton 2017, aged in a French oak barrel. Reid's is a one-of-a-kind rustic winery featuring horse boarding, trail rides, and lessons. You're even likely to cross paths with a few chickens and ducks as you make your way to the winery. Tastings are free, but make sure to "call before you haul," as the owners say, so they'll be there and ready for your visit.

  • Carriage House Vineyards - 259 Longview Lane, Auburn, KY 42206
Located in a beautiful, sprawling area near Logan County homes for sale, Carriage House Vineyards has the distinction of being the county's first and only winery since Prohibition. Try several free wine samples as you learn about your choices from the winemakers, and if the weather is a bit chilly, gather around the outside fire pit to sip and relax. Whites, reds, and rosés are available, and customer favorites include Apple Verde, a semi-sweet blend of green apple and Riesling, and Moore's Diamond, a semi-sweet wine with floral and honeysuckle notes
